GC-MS training course

GC-MS training workshop was an excellent opportunity for me the get the knowledge and skills by doing and running experimental work with new technology. The most important think that I met expertise and peers from different places in Africa and the Chemistry community and am a part from the network so I believe that now am in the right road. In addition to that the interpretation of GC-MS and the skills in knowing the unknown materials was important to me because as scientist it’s the real work.

My research area focuses on water and contaminants which are one of the important issues in the world. The importance of measuring contaminants in water and especially in drinking water and identifying counterfeit medicines give me interest to do my research in this area under the study titled: Optimization of GC-MS Method for Analysis of Pharmaceuticals Personal Care Products in Water. My plan during my study to develop novel GC-MS methods for determination PPCPs at very low concentrations. And Now I get the knowledge and skills from the training.

I highly recommend this kind of training to African scientist and actually now I am circulating the information to my student and colleague, I really appreciate the RSC and GSK for this opportunity and Addis Ababa University for their support.

African chemists to use GC-MS expertise to solve local problems

27 October 2016 Fifteen analytical chemists from across Africa are now proficient in both the practical and theoretical aspects of GC-MS, thanks to a week-long workshop in Ethiopia at the start of October.
